Mysterious Island, Island of the Gods "Oshima"
(1 minute walk from the inn)
An island included in the Echizen Kaga Kaigan Quasi-National Park.
The entire island is made of rhyolite, and the Oshima Lighthouse is located on the western slope.
Famous places on the island include the Magnet Rock, Uriwari Water, and Ominato Shrine.
Ominato Shrine in particular is the place where Minamoto no Yoshitsune stopped off on his escape and donated his retainer's helmet,
Akechi Mitsuhide visited and composed a Chinese poem there, making it a historic shrine.
Both the main hall and worship hall are designated as cultural properties of Fukui Prefecture.
